Attention parents of elementary-school-aged children: We have some exciting news to share with you! Georgetown ISD has recently broken ground on a brand-new elementary school located in the Tierra Rosa Village right here at Santa Rita Ranch! Named the San Gabriel Elementary School, this state-of-the-art facility will be able to accommodate up to 850 students once it reaches full capacity. It’s scheduled to open its doors for the 2024 school year.
The groundbreaking marks a significant milestone for Santa Rita Ranch, as the Georgetown ISD new elementary school is the first GISD on-site school in our community. This means that our youngest residents will soon be able to bike or walk to school right in their own neighborhood!
While the kids are the big winners, of course, the whole community can reap so many benefits from having a nearby elementary school, which is why we’re so happy to be welcoming San Gabriel Elementary School to the neighborhood! Kids can make friends with schoolmates who live right nearby, and having a local school helps to foster a stronger sense of community. Plus, it’s so easy for parents to pick up and drop off their kids or to let them walk or bike to school each day. In fact, it’s easier for parents to stay more involved in their child’s education overall!
The new Georgetown ISD elementary school broke ground on 14.4 acres of land donated by Santa Rita Ranch developers. When it is completed, the new school will be 124,625 square feet and have plenty of space for 850 of the region’s best and brightest students! The school’s designer, Huckabee Architects, emulated some of the best-loved elements of Georgetown ISD’s popular Williams and Wolf Ranch elementary schools.
“In this building, you’ll see a great space that’s very open for kids but also gives teachers the options to shape the learning space and create more creative opportunities for kids,” said Superintendent Emeritus Fred Brent.
We can’t wait for the first GISD on-site elementary school at Santa Rita Ranch to open its doors for the 2024 school year. We’re already looking forward to seeing all those adorable little backpacks and lunch boxes being carried along the sidewalks of Santa Rita Ranch to the Georgetown ISD new elementary school!
