Georgetown ISD Bond Proposition Approved

As you may have already heard, the Georgetown Independent School District (GISD) Board of Trustees just approved nearly $350 million in bonds for new school buildings and technology improvements. This is incredible news for residents of Santa Rita Ranch who have school-aged kids attending Georgetown ISD schools!

Georgetown ISD serves nearly 12,000 students across more than a dozen schools, and the communities that make up the district are growing fast. In fact, Georgetown ISD is expected to add more than 2,400 students over the next five years! With the Georgetown ISD bond proposition approved, the district will have money to help facilitate that growth while improving the educational experience for all students.

Voters passed two propositions on November 2, and both of them cover a wealth of additions, improvements, and upgrades across the school district, many of them focused on school construction and renovation. $333.4 million will help to pay for the construction of two new elementary schools, a new middle school, and a facility for technical programs and continuing education. Money has also been earmarked for everything from HVAC systems and roof upgrades to buses and maintenance vehicles.

Georgetown ISD Passes Massive Technology Upgrade

Georgetown ISD passed a massive technology upgrade, which will provide $16.5 million for valuable infrastructure, improve opportunities available to all Georgetown ISD students, and help put GISD at the top of the heap when it comes to learning technology. Not only will schools have more computers and labs, the district will be able to improve connectivity and maximize growth as it continues to expand. The bond will support the district’s one-to-one initiative, which helps to ensure that every student has access to devices for remote learning, a program first rolled out in 2020.

Again, this is great news for the residents of Santa Rita Ranch. Here on the Ranch, we know that schools play a major role in where families choose to put down roots. That’s why we always place quality education at the top of our list and work to ensure that all of our residents, of every age, have access to some of the best learning opportunities available.

The passing of these propositions means that Santa Rita Ranch will get a new elementary school and a new middle school just north of us in Palmer Ranch in addition to the nearby schools our youngest residents already enjoy. The Georgetown schools that serve our Ranch community already offer diverse educational experiences and extensive community partnerships that help students to learn and grow together. With additional funding for new schools, new facilities, computer and data center equipment, technology infrastructure, and more, area students will be more inspired and empowered than ever before. They’ll have even more opportunities to make the most of their education!

Ask anyone who already makes their home here, and they’ll tell you that there’s always so much going on at Santa Rita Ranch and so many good things happening for us and our surrounding communities.
