Hosting a dinner party with your neighbors is a wonderful opportunity to have fun along the way. We have put together a list of our favorite tips and tricks for hosting a stress-free dinner party.

  • Make a  list & check it twice.

Invite your neighbors and friends to your home for a night of fun- keep track of who has RSVP’d start your planning from that list. The beauty of hosting a dinner party is you can keep it small which allows you to spend more time with each guest.

  • Go with what you know.

Treat your guest to a meal you have prepared AT LEAST once if not many times, to eliminate some of the stress of hosting.

  • Plan. Plan. Plan.

The more thought put into the dinner menu the better the execution from prep to plate.

  • Take a look at what you currently have on hand.

See what items you will need for your thoughtfully planned menu, designate any specialty items that might be harder to find.

  • Prep now, relax later.

Anything that you can do ahead of time will save you time away from your guests. Utilize this step to the fullest, and savor the precious time enjoying company.

  • Clean as you go.

Take a little extra time along the way to clean up behind yourself as you prep, chop, cook, and serve. Start with an empty dishwasher for the most efficient clean time.

  • Delegate.

Although we know you really can DO IT ALL, you don’t to have to. Know how to respond when your guest asks what they can bring.

  • Start early.

Count on whatever you’re preparing to take longer than you expected. That being said if you get a jump start you will have a moment to breathe before opening the door to welcome your company.

  • Set the scene.

Dim the lights, hit play to a perfect playlist, and light some candles to create a welcoming atmosphere to your company.

Remember why you decided to host in the first place. Enjoy the time you have gathered with family, friends, and neighbors, and always have fun along the way.
