It’s that time of year again — where weekend plans revolve around football schedules and fridges are kept stocked with your favorite beer. In case you didn’t know already, this time of year if what many Texans look forward too. What’s better than barbecuing every weekend and gathering around a screen or an arena to catch your favorite team with your friends and family?

And while some people you know may only be focusing on the upcoming game, the event provides much more planning on your part. Your group will need fuel and drinks to keep the tailgate going. Check out our favorite game day snacks to feed your team:

Jalapeno Popper Cheesy Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 to 1,5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup pickled jalapeno slices, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 and 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Cut the bread lengthwise and place both parts face up on the sheet.
  4. Brush both pieces with melted butter. Sprinkle with garlic powder.
  5. Cover with a piece of aluminum foil and place in the oven.
  6. Bake for 5 minutes.
  7. In the meantime, divide the jalapenos. Save the pretty slices to place on top of the bread (About 1/4 cup). Chop the rest. I
  8. In a medium mixing bowl, mix together cream cheese, sour cream, chopped jalapenos, salt and pepper.
  9. Remove the bread from the oven. Uncover.
  10. Spread the jalapeno dip mixture on the bread, dividing equally between the two pieces of bread.
  11. Top with cheese.
  12. Arrange the reserved jalapeno slices over the cheese.
  13. Place bread back in the oven for 2 to 4 more minutes, to melt the cheese. (see note)
  14. Remove from the oven and place on a cutting board. Let cool for few minutes.
  15. Slice and serve.

Cheddar Bacon Ranch Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 and 1/2 cups shredded cheddar
  • 1 pkg dry Ranch mix
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon. Place it on a aluminum foil lined baking sheet and bake in 400 degree F oven for 10 to 12 minutes until crispy. Cool completely. Chop.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese and sour cream. Using an electric hand held mixer helps.
  3. Add Ranch mix, pepper and cheddar cheese. Stir together.
  4. Add bacon and stir in.
  5. Place in a serving dish and serve or refrigerate covered until serving.
  6. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 1 day.

Baked Honey Sriracha Wings

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro leaves
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

For the Glaze

  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Sriracha*
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Juice of 1 lime

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. To make the glaze, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour until lightly browned, about 1 minute. Stir in honey, Sriracha, soy sauce and lime juice. Bring to a boil; simmer until slightly thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine wings, butter, vegetable oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper, to taste.
  4. Place wings onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, using metal tongs to turn at halftime. Brush wings with Sriracha glaze and broil for 3-4 minutes, or until crisp and crusted.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with cilantro and sesame seeds, if desired.
