South by Southwest – March 14-19
In 30 years, SXSW has grown into one of the biggest conferences and festivals in the nation and offers a little something for everyone: music, film, interactive, and speakers from around the world. Taking place at numerous establishments and the Austin Convention Center, SXSW is a great way to spend time with friends and explore the local Austin music scene.
Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt and Movie in the Park – March 24, 2016
The Round Rock Parks and Recreation department hosts an annual Flashlight Easter Egg hunt and Movies in the Park every year at Old Settlers Park. Featuring candy, eggs, prizes, and lots of fun, kids can bring their flashlight and basket to partake on a hunt and watch a movie (this year it’s Minions!) afterwards. The event is $4 for pre-registration, $5 for at the door.
Statesman Capitol 10,000 – April 10, 2016
As the largest 10K race in Texas, the Statesman Capitol 10,000 attracts over 25,000 participants yearly. For 35 years, runners of all ages and backgrounds have partaken in the fun and festive event. This event is the perfect way to get active and healthy with friends and family.
Red Poppy Festival – April 22-24, 2016
A Georgetown and Central Texas tradition, the Red Poppy festival brings together family and friends to enjoy live music, food, and fun. With free admission, this local family-friendly event features street dancing, entertainers, food vendors, an art contest, a car show, and much more!
Austin Food and Wine Festival – April 22-24
For all of our foodies out there, this is the event for you! The Austin Food and Wine Festival showcases some of Texas’ most talented chefs and restaurateurs. Presented by FOOD & WINE magazine, the festival is open for those aged 21+ — a great event for an outing with friends!
Pecan Street Festival – May 7 & 8
A lively street fair featuring artisans, musicians and food, Pecan Street Festival on East 6th in Austin showcases the talents of artisans from all over the US. You’ll find art and craft work including paintings, jewelry, woodwork, and unique items to take home and share with friends and family.
